Stacey's love
for the tactile and visc eral arts is traced back to elementary school.
Ms. Mrva was often found sketching her ideas for the latest trends in
fashion as well as designing accessories. Her dreams of the
Fashion Institute of Technology and becoming an accomplished fashion
designer led her to the sewing machine, where she obtained the basics
for a lot of her work today.
The advancement
of her creativity stemmed into painting, drawing, and eventually
metal-smithing in high school. Stacey realized that through metal,
she could create and design on a much deeper and cathartic level.
The new direction in her art shifted the dream from fashion to
metal-smithing.
Ms. Mrva
attended Syracuse University from 1993 - 1997. Stacey has found a
way to
join all of her experience and work with several types of media.
She has broken the boundaries of conventional form and married fabric,
metal, plaster, clay and light to ignite the senses. Stacey's work
is both elegant and humorous, while maintaining a level of freshness and
professionalism that is rare in such a young artist.
Stacey Mrva has permanent work
around Rochester, New York that can be viewed at the Lodge at Woodcliff,
Inspiration Designs, the Meridian Centre Office Park, Gateway Framing,
Karma 355 and Sienna Grill And Bar. She currently works in
Rochester and Boston.
